After graduating college, Margaret moved to New York City where studied journalism and worked as a video producer for Hearst Magazines. Switching gears professionally, she went to Cardozo Law School in New York City. During law school, Margaret learned more about the epidemic of mass incarceration for people of color and was greatly influenced by Michelle Alexander’s “The New Jim Crow,” leading her to criminal defense.
Following law school, Margaret was a public defender in Queens, NYC with the Legal Aid Society; a job she loved in a city she adored. But, the Blue Ridge Mountains called her home.
Margaret is growing Brazil & Burke's criminal defense and family law practice areas, with a particular focus on serving Spanish speaking clients in our community.
